Thank you for your interest in the field educator position at Yosemite Institute (YI). This website provides information about our organization, a position description, a detailed description of the application process, and an application.
Filling vacancies for field educators is a highly competitive process. Recruiting and retaining a diverse educator staff is a high priority at YI. Applicants from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Successful candidates are enthusiastic, self-directed, innovative team players who have:
- An academic background in the natural sciences
- Experience teaching in a residential outdoor/environmental educational program
- Led wilderness outings
- A background in risk management and outdoor safety
YI field educators are typically very giving people who:
- Want to teach young people in a fun, hands-on manner
- Can teach by example
- Respect and value wild places
We accept applications on an on-going basis. We are currently hiring for positions that start either in January or August 2008. The deadline for January positions is October 22, 2007. The deadline for August positions is February 1, 2008. Applicants should make it clear in their applications which positions they wish to be considered for.
