Olympic Park Institute's Watershed and Environmental Science Trainings for teachers (Olympic WEST) range from 2 to 4 days. All include daily outdoor activities supplemented with access to our interactive learning rooms.

 

Study the Diversity of Life in Olympic National Park

A 3-day Retreat for Teachers and their Families

Need a relaxing way to connect with your family, your colleagues and receive clock hours? We have space available for our upcoming teacher retreat!

Cost
$45 for Washington Teachers
$60 per non-participating guest, children ages 9 and under come free*
14 clock hours available ($2.50/hour)

Enjoy the beginning of our dry season in Olympic National Park while learning content and activities about the diversity of life that can be applied to your classroom. Explore old growth forests at Barnes Point and aging forests along the clear waters of Barnes Creek and Marymere Falls. Participants stay in cabins at our campus on beautiful Lake Crescent in Olympic National Park and dine in historic Rosemary Inn.

Using Inquiry to Study Environmental Change

A 4-day Science Training for Washington Teachers

Interested in connecting your students with field science opportunities and tracking the health of our regional ecosystems? This workshop gives us a chance to develop our skills together in the diversity of ecosystems in Olympic National Park.

30 clock hours available ($2.50/hour)

Enjoy the peak of our summer season in Olympic National Park while learning techniques for inquiry-based learning that can be applied to your classroom. Explore old growth forests at Barnes Point and the sub-alpine wildflowers of Hurricane Ridge. This workshop will allow us to study climate change in the high country and low land forests. Participants stay in cabins at our campus on beautiful Lake Crescent in Olympic National Park and dine in historic Rosemary Inn.
